Profhilo®

Winner of Product Innovation of the Year, 2016 – The Aesthetics Awards

Profhilo is the first BDDE-free stabilised injectable hyaluronic acid (HA) based product for treating skin laxity. With one of the highest concentrations of HA on the market (64mg / 2ml) it is not only boosting and hydrating the skin, but also remodels ageing and sagging tissue. Profhilo delivers great results as a treatment on its own or in combination with other aesthetics treatments currently on offer.

As a stabilised product Profhilo lasts in the skin around 28 days. During this time the stimulation of 4 different types of collagen and elastin takes place by slow release of HA. The stimulation results in significant tissue improvement. Therefore, we cannot say that Profhilo is a skin booster as it also has a significant tightening / lifting effect on the tissue. Profhilo requires two treatments with a four-week interval, results are usually seen following the second treatment. Prices from £350

Viscoderm Hydrobooster is a stabilized hyaluronic acid injectable product able to offer a dual function; a biological process of hydration and tissue restructuring, together with a mechanical action to stretch the most superficial wrinkles, in a precise and natural way, resulting in its unique HYDROSTRETCH action. Optimal tissue integration is achieved in different levels of the dermis, up to the most superficial layers. For this reason, Viscoderm® Hydrobooster is particularly effective on the dynamic areas of the face (perioral, periocular and forehead). Prices from £250

Collagen Stimulators

Collagen stimulators – are injectables which are administered to the deep layers of the skin. They are used to create lift, treat facial wrinkles and folds and to enhance facial contours.

Muscle Relaxant Injectables

Muscle-relaxant injectables are used to treat moderate to severe lines associated with muscle activity. These are known as dynamic lines produced by dynamic movements. Botulinum Type A (for example Allergan’s Botox ®) is an FDA approved treatment indicated for the glabellar complex (frown lines), lateral canthal lines (crow’s feet) and forehead lines. Botulinum Toxin A remains the most popular non-surgical aesthetic treatment for both male and female patients in the UK.

Botulinum Toxin A is a toxin produced by the bacterium Clostridium Botulinum and was initially introduced in the medical world over two hundred years ago to teat excessive sweating. Botulinum Toxin A has also been used in medicine, to effectively treat headaches, bladder control and squints. The work with Botulinum Toxin A and ophthalmology revealed a side effect, a reduction in the appearance of crow’s feet around the eyes and as a result is now licensed to use in aesthetics. Once injected the toxin prevents the release of the chemical acetylcholine at the neuromuscular junction known as the synapse and consequently the neurone synapse is blocked.

The physical effect from this is movement in the area is temporarily reduced creating a softening effect on lines and wrinkles. Over time the body creates new connections and movement will be gradually be restored, effects last 3-4 months depending on the individual. This treatment uses a prescription only medication (POM), therefore, a detailed consultation with your practitioner and/or prescriber, face to face will assess your suitability and clinical need.
